Dione Kobayashi, PhD
Senior Director, Preclinical Translation
Dione Kobayashi has published and patented in fields of neurodegenerative, ocular and neuromuscular diseases, and biomarkers. She has consulted for multiple rare disease non-profit organizations and biotechnology companies in a diversity of CNS and rare genetic diseases.
Prior to joining Cydan, Dr. Kobayashi was a Director of Neurology Models at Alector, where she played key roles in their research labs and pharmacology program. Previously, Dr. Kobayashi was a Director at the Spinal Muscular Atrophy Foundation, where she led in vivo drug screening and clinical biomarker validation and established numerous drug development collaborations with biotech and pharmaceutical company partners. In addition, Dr. Kobayashi was the Alzheimer’s and Age-related Macular Degeneration Research Program Leader at Rinat Labs later acquired by Pfizer. Prior to this, Dr. Kobayashi worked at Elan Pharmaceutical and Genentech.
Dr. Kobayashi received her BSc in Brain & Cognitive Neurosciences from MIT and PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh. Dr. Kobayashi is a member of the Cure Congenital Muscular Dystrophy (Cure CMD) Scientific Advisory Board and a Science Advisor to the Limb Girdle Muscular Dystrophy 2D Foundation.
